This started with a conversation in a restaurant in the Alps. Why do so
many drivers (not all) feel the need to cut within inches and scare the
living daylights out of cyclists?
Ignorance?
Haste?
We thought just a lack of thought, so why not give a simple reminder,
we do need a few feet, because in the car behind, you can't see what's
in front of my front wheel...a pothole, ice, mud, a cat...basically
something that may force me off my line suddenly to avoid crashing in
front of you, and that's why I need a little more room.
We don't expect to change everyone's attitude, but if just the
occasional driver reads that on the back of the jersey and thinks,
"Fair enough", then job done.
Put it on your club kit next season please. It costs nothing, you've
paid for the colours and printing, and you never know, someone might
take notice.
